March 30 Camp

On March 30, 5 Scouts and 3 leaders headed off to Scouter Ken's camp for the night. We had to carry our gear for about 1.6 KM. After arriving, we built our shelters for night. Only one of us had to head inside during the night, we won't mention names, but his initials are Joseph :).After a dinner of KD and tube steaks (hotdogs) we went for a short night hike to try our luck at calling bard owls. We did have a couple of coyotes answer our calls.

On Saturday morning we packed our gear to head back out to meet our drives. On the way, Scouter Ian covered most of the information for our Forestry badges. We learned about different types of trees and their uses. We also learned about the Spruce Budworm and saw a Ruffed Grouse on the way.

Getting our gear packed on the way in:

Some of our shelters for the night. A great night to sleep under the stars.
